Indonesia is one of the world’s main sources of tropical red seaweed. At Bospres we control the first steps of the supply chain ourselves, from cultivation to drying and baling.
Our farms
We grow Gracilaria in Samboja, East Kalimantan, and Eucheuma cottonii and denticulatum in Luwuk, Central Sulawesi. Gracilaria is the raw material for agar; Eucheuma is the raw material for carrageenan.
Drying and storage
Seaweed is dried and stored at our own facilities in Balikpapan and Makassar, which are dedicated to drying, storing and selling raw seaweed. Good harvesting and handling practices matter here, because moisture and impurities decide the quality of the final extract.
Volume and packing
- Supply: 100 to 300 MT of raw seaweed per month, depending on the season
- Packing: 100 kg hydraulic bales
- Minimum order: 15 MT (1 x 20 ft FCL)
